TallyTV / Your privacy

Privacy policy.

Last updated: October 2, 2026. This policy describes how TallyTV for iOS and Android handles information. Features and data handling can differ by platform and app version.

1. Overview

TallyTV is a movie and TV tracking app provided by onelldev. You do not need a TallyTV account to use it. We do not operate a TallyTV account server that receives your library, viewing history, or connected-service passwords. The app stores your library on your device, communicates directly with services you choose to use, and uses the analytics, advertising, and purchase services described here.

2. Information on your device

TallyTV stores watchlists, watched history, episode progress, media details, app settings, sync records, purchase entitlements, and cached artwork locally. Connected-service account names and server preferences may also be stored locally. Connection secrets such as tokens and passwords are stored in Apple Keychain on iOS or Android Keystore-backed encrypted preferences on Android. iOS Keychain items are configured for access only while the device is unlocked.

Normal operating-system backup behavior depends on your device settings. TallyTV does not offer its own cloud account or cloud library sync.

3. Catalog and optional connections

TallyTV requests media details and artwork from The Movie Database (TMDB). Requests can include catalog searches, media identifiers, and artwork paths. Ask TallyTV can use on-device processing for parts of a request, but catalog matching can still send derived search terms or media identifiers to TMDB. Do not assume every Ask TallyTV step is offline.

Connecting SIMKL, Trakt, Yamtrack, Plex, or Jellyfin is optional. If you connect one, TallyTV exchanges the authorization and account information needed for that service and may read or write lists, viewing history, ratings, episode progress, or related media identifiers, depending on the service and action you choose. Plex and Jellyfin connections may use a locally generated client or device identifier. Data sent to a connected service is governed by that service or server operator and remains there until you manage it with that provider.

Yamtrack and media-server connections use the server address you provide. If the app permits an HTTP connection to that address, the connection is not protected by HTTPS. Android blocks HTTP to public hosts but may permit it for private local servers.

4. Product analytics

TallyTV uses PostHog for product analytics on iOS and Android. This is on by default in production releases and is separate from advertising consent, introductory ad-free periods, and Pro purchases. It helps us understand app usage and feature reliability. The app sends events to PostHog's US endpoint and may send them in batches. The iOS SDK may also request remote configuration.

Events are limited to categories and outcomes such as installation or update, app open, screen category, onboarding, Ask TallyTV use, search, sync, import, and purchase outcome. They can include app and operating-system versions, device type or model, locale, time zone, network information, a persistent random app or device identifier, and a session identifier. We do not intentionally include media titles, watch history, search text, Ask TallyTV prompts, account names, credentials, server addresses, payment-card details, or purchase tokens in analytics events. Those details may still be shared with a catalog or connected service when you use that feature, as described above.

These identifiers allow events from the same installation to be associated over time; “anonymous analytics” does not mean that no identifier is sent. The prepared ad-free iOS build 1.8.1 (36) privacy disclosure classifies purchase history, device ID, product interaction, and other usage data used for analytics as data linked to you, and does not classify it as tracking. TallyTV does not use PostHog person profiles, session replay, screenshots, automatic event capture, surveys, or automatic crash capture. Requests ask PostHog to disable IP-based geolocation enrichment, but the provider may still receive an IP address as part of the network connection.

You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy > Share Anonymous Analytics (or “Compartir análisis anónimos” in Spanish on iOS). Turning it off stops future event capture and clears locally queued analytics and the local analytics identifier; iOS also closes its SDK and removes local project data where possible. Turning it back on creates a new identifier. Opting out does not delete events already received by PostHog. We cannot promise deletion of provider-held events or logs associated with a particular installation; contact us for questions or requests.

5. Advertising and consent

The prepared iOS 1.8.1 (36) build removes advertising but retains the optional, default-on product analytics described above. This does not mean that build is already available in the App Store. Earlier iOS versions may still contain advertising. Android 1.7 (28) retains AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform; its analytics setting remains separate from advertising consent.

Ad-supported Android versions use Google AdMob for banners in Discover, Movies Watchlist, and Watched, and may show full-screen ads at browsing breaks. TV Watchlist does not show a banner. New Android installations have an initial seven-day ad-free period; Pro and eligible earlier ad-removal purchases also remove ads. Some iOS versions have offered banners or optional rewarded ads. An optional rewarded ad appears only when you choose its offered reward. The presence and placement of ads may change by app version.

When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process device or advertising identifiers where available, IP address, app and ad interactions, consent choices, and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. TallyTV does not add your media titles, watch history, search text, or sync credentials to ad requests. Non-personalized ads can still involve data processing. Where required, Google’s User Messaging Platform asks for advertising choices before ads are requested. You can revisit available choices in the app's Privacy settings and use your device's advertising controls. The analytics setting above is independent of these ad choices.

6. Purchases

Apple App Store or Google Play processes purchases and subscriptions. TallyTV reads the transaction and entitlement information needed to grant, restore, or remove purchased features, and stores entitlement status locally. The iOS app offers recurring monthly and yearly options and a one-time Pro purchase; options can vary by platform and version. Analytics can record a purchase category or outcome, but not a payment-card number or transaction identifier. We do not receive your payment-card details from the app stores. Apple and Google may provide us sales or transaction reports under their own policies.

7. Export, retention, and deletion

If you choose to export data, TallyTV creates a JSON file that can include your library, viewing history, settings, and, on iOS, profile archives. It does not include stored connection passwords or tokens. The exported file is not encrypted by TallyTV; you choose where to save or share it and should protect it accordingly.

Local library data remains until you remove it. Reset All Data clears the local library and some cached data, including the image cache on iOS, but does not necessarily remove connected-service credentials, all caches, or the analytics identifier. Use the app's separate disconnect, cache, and analytics controls as applicable. Disconnecting a service removes its locally stored authorization information; it does not delete data already sent to that service. A reset or uninstall also does not delete your exported files, operating-system backups, app-store transactions, or analytics and advertising data already received by providers.

Provider-held data follows each provider's retention rules. Contact the provider or use its account controls for its data. If you contact TallyTV support, we receive your email address and the information you send; we keep it as needed to respond and maintain support records. You may ask us to delete a support conversation, subject to applicable recordkeeping requirements.

8. Sharing and security

We do not sell your personal information for money. Information is shared with the services described above when you use them, and may be disclosed when required for legal, fraud-prevention, or security purposes. Depending on applicable law, advertising disclosures may be considered a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; use the available advertising privacy choices in the app where applicable.

TallyTV uses platform-protected storage for connection secrets. Its standard catalog, store, analytics, and tracker connections use HTTPS. Security for a user-configured server depends on its address and configuration. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

Read more about the independent practices of Google services used in apps, PostHog, Apple, and your chosen catalog, tracker, or media-server provider.

9. Changes and contact
